A closer look at three different family situations and how working with Legara helped them move forward. Details are representative of common experiences.
A couple in their 50s with documents in the UK, Australia, and Thailand — insurance policies, property papers, and financial account records spread across filing cabinets, email folders, and a storage unit in Sydney.
Booked the Document Inventory Toolkit service. Over two sessions with a Legara specialist, they worked through every category of document, noted where each one was physically or digitally held, and produced a single master inventory. The specialist referred them to a Thai notary and their UK solicitor for formal arrangements.
A completed inventory binder covering 47 document categories, shared digitally with their adult son in Melbourne. Both partners described the process as "the most useful admin afternoon we've had in years." They subsequently consulted the professionals on the referral list for formal steps.
Three adult siblings in Bangkok whose widowed father was in good health but whose affairs were entirely un-organised. Every time the topic came up at family gatherings, it was quickly changed. Nobody knew where anything was or what their father's wishes were.
The eldest daughter attended the Estate Organising Workshop first, then all four family members (including the father) joined the Legacy Conversation Membership for three months. The facilitated sessions gave them a neutral, structured space to have conversations they hadn't been able to have at home.
After three months of membership sessions, the family had completed a shared document inventory, agreed on a general approach for future arrangements, and engaged a Bangkok-based lawyer from the referral list. The father described the membership sessions as "a quiet way to get us talking about something we should have talked about years ago."
A 42-year-old Thai professional living alone in Bangkok. No urgent pressing need, just a sense that she should probably get things in better order while she had time and energy to think about it calmly.
Attended a single Estate Organising Workshop. Found the document checklist walkthrough more useful than expected — identified several important documents she thought she had but wasn't sure she'd renewed or updated. Used the take-home handout to complete her folder at home over the following weekend.
Returned to Legara six months later for the Toolkit service to formalise what she'd started. Now has a complete inventory and has appointed a trusted friend as the person who knows where to find it. "It took less than a day, total. I don't know why I waited as long as I did."
