Our Story

Keeping the Things That Matter in Order

Legara was founded in Bangkok with a simple conviction: that every family deserves a quiet, organised place to begin these important conversations — without pressure, and without confusion.

Who We Are

A Studio Built Around One Quiet Idea

Legara was set up in Bangkok in 2019 by a small group of organisers and facilitators who had spent years helping families through difficult periods of transition. What they noticed, again and again, was that the practical side of things — the paperwork, the folders, the question of where everything was kept — was almost always left unaddressed until it became urgent.

That lag between intention and action is something Legara was created to close. Not by offering legal or financial services — we are not qualified to do that, and we are clear about it — but by providing the educational scaffolding and practical tools that help families begin. A well-labelled folder. A completed document inventory. A calm family conversation that has finally happened.

Our workshops and sessions take place at our premises on Thanon Rama IV in Bangkok's Pathum Wan district. We keep groups small, our tone unhurried, and our scope firmly within general education. Where participants need professional guidance, we refer them to qualified lawyers, financial advisers, and official bodies in Thailand.

The name Legara draws on the Latin root for legacy — not in a grand sense, but in the straightforward sense of leaving things in order. That is what we help people do.

Our Mission

To give families in Bangkok the practical tools, the structured conversations, and the quiet confidence to organise their important affairs — at their own pace and without pressure.

Our Approach

We work strictly within the bounds of general education. Every session is designed to inform, organise, and facilitate — never to advise on personal, legal, or financial matters. We signpost clearly to qualified professionals when participants are ready to take formal steps.

Our Values

Clarity over complexity. Respect for the pace of each family. Honesty about what we do and what we don't do. A belief that getting organised is an act of care for the people you love.

Standards & Practices

How We Work

Legara holds itself to clear standards across all of its sessions and services.

Education-Only Scope

Every session, guide, and template we provide is framed strictly as general information. Participants are clearly reminded at the outset and throughout that this is not personal advice of any kind.

Participant Privacy

Personal information shared during sessions or via our enquiry form is handled with care and is not shared with third parties outside those needed to deliver our services. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Facilitator Conduct

All Legara facilitators follow a clear code of conduct: no directing participants toward specific decisions, no suggesting particular products or providers, and no implying any outcome is certain or typical.

Professional Referral System

We maintain an up-to-date directory of qualified lawyers, notaries, financial advisers, and official Thai government bodies. Participants who need individual professional help are pointed there clearly.

Session Quality Review

Each workshop series is reviewed by our facilitation team following participant feedback. Content is updated regularly to reflect changes in community needs and general best-practice organising guidance.

Inclusive & Accessible

Sessions are designed for families at any stage of preparation — from those with nothing yet organised to those who simply want to check and complete what they have already started. No background knowledge is assumed.

Our Philosophy

Organising as a Form of Care

Most families in Bangkok — Thai and expatriate alike — know that having important papers in order is a good idea. What they often lack is a structured moment and a calm space in which to actually do it. Legara provides that moment and that space.

Our workshops are intentionally practical. We walk participants through the kinds of documents that matter, where they are typically kept, and how to make them easy for a trusted family member to locate. We provide the physical folders, the labelling system, and the checklist. By the end of a session, something that felt vague and uncomfortable has become concrete and manageable.

The Legacy Conversation Membership takes this further, creating an ongoing community of people committed to keeping these topics alive in their families. Members share experiences, work through story-keeping guides, and support one another in navigating what can be an emotionally layered subject — always within a framing of general education rather than personal counsel.

Legara does not work in place of a lawyer, a financial adviser, or an official body. We sit beside those resources — helping families get organised enough to make the most of their time with qualified professionals, and clear enough in their own thinking to ask the right questions.

If you are based in Bangkok and have been meaning to get your family's affairs in better order, we would be glad to hear from you. There is no particular stage of readiness required. You do not need to have anything already done. The only thing you need to begin is the willingness to begin.
